LIHSSRD COMPETITION RULES
Riders
are judged on Equitation, Demonstration, and Knowledge of Riding
Skills. In order to create a “level” competition
information sheets are filled out to provide the judge with
information about restrictions and exceptions that will be
necessary for the riders on an individual basis. Arm bands
are available for riders to wear which indicated a visual,
auditory, or physical impairment. This assists the Judge in
make a fair assessment while riders demonstrate their skills
more complex.
Competition Rules:
1. Competing riders
will be required to fill out the show entry form as well as
the information sheet attached to this form. All entry blank
forms, fees and information sheets must be submitted to the
HorseAbility Office one week prior to the date of the show.
Post entries will not be accepted. Each show entry form, rules
and additional information will be available online. Fees are $30 per class and to be paid
to LIHSSRD.
2. Points will
be awarded according to USEF rules for Equitation
Classes:1st
place: 7, 2nd place: 5, 3rd place: 4, 4th place: 3, 5th place:
2, 6th place: 1. Ties for other than first place will remain
tied. All riders participating in the class will receive a
1/2 point. The top 10 riders in each division will qualify
for the LIHSSRD Final Championship that will be held at the
2008 Hampton Classic Horse Show. Riders must participate in
at least 3 shows in the series in order to qualify for the
finals. Point tracking will be available at online.
3. Adaptive equipment
may be used if necessary. Riders must submit with their show
entry form, either a current PATH Intl. Equestrian Proficiency
Card (NEPC) or a USAE Dispensation Certificate approving the
use and safety of such equipment. Safety equipment will be
checked by the safety delegate prior to entering the schooling
arena and/or each class. Safety stirrups are recommended for
all saddles.
4. Proper English
riding attire is required for all classes. All mounted riders
must wear an approved ASTM/SEI helmet. Half chaps are permitted.
Safety vests may be worn under hunt coats. Voice commands
and crops are allowed.
5.
Armbands are permitted to identify riders who are unable to
sit the trot, unable to post, unable to ride in 2 point position,
non-verbal, hearing impaired or sight impaired.
